Where Are All the Deer Hunters?

It just caught my attention that there are no post on this forum!

What?! But the big game forum was always a hot one on the old forums. Has everybody stopped deer hunting?

Okay.... If I must, I'll start this out. I took three deer this past season but nothing really photo worthy. But here's the eight point I got the day after Thanksgiving, 2012.

Hmmm... Let's see if I ain't got a better shot of the deer. .... Here ya go.

Okay.... I had a story with this one that I told back in 2012. I got this guy the Saturday after Thanksgiving, 2012. I call him "Devil Buck".

These to I got on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, 2011.
The smaller buck was supposed to be a doe. I swear to ya, I did not see the horns! ?

Yeah, yeah. I know every body has got pictures of bigger deer than this. So show us!

Being a new-bee I thought it strange there were no posts here. I'm going to try to figure out how to load pictures. I'll relate last years hunt, it was great but sure had mixed results My son and a friend (both former Boy Scouts when I was troop leader) have hunted the same county for over twenty years. Last year we three had my sons wife, daughter and one son along. Due to weather and other commitments we only hunted one day, I was able to hunt one more during the season. On our day out, sunrise and the first half hour were slow, north wind in the low twenties. three off us pushed a shelter belt (very dense 3/4 mi long) finally some deer movement for others posted at far end. Shots fired deer to slough bottom, pursued for better part of mile before shots could be taken, grandson shot a smaller buck 3x3, my son shot a doe. Retrieved deer and regrouped at vehicle to warm and strategize. all but our friend and I walked in about 3/4 mi. and then pushed the slough back, Granddaughter shot at and connected with a doe that crossed slough and went down. Granddaughter, her dad and our friend all ran toward down deer spot , about 100-130 yards in slough grass about 3-4 foot high. very minimal blood. no deer or blood trail. If you have ever seen a deer run literally on it's knee you understand how fast they can cover ground. All but myself fanned out and canvassed area, nothing to be found. I was still at end in case of further deer movement, as they re grouped a doe ran out the end about 100 yards from me to cross onto private land. I shot that deer but it was able to cross onto private, we saw it go down and knew it had expired. We all rode to locate landowner (also warm up and snack) finally contacted adjoining landowner that was able to call landowner and obtain permission to retrieve deer. We retrieved deer and broke for noon meal and returned to attempt to locate granddaughters deer with no success. Hate to give up, but hunting can have it's disappointing moments. Ran out of day with no further success. I was able to return one cold January day alone, was able to locate some deer but couldn't get close enough to even fire a shot. They get bunched up that time of year and are very difficult to approach, too many eyes!!! Well enough of my rambling, I look forward to the next season and pray that we all can have a productive, safe and enjoyable experience again..

Our Big Game subcategory actually covers elk, deer, etc. We have a deer hunting forum under the Hunting category.

Hey that was selfish of me, enjoyed your pictures and comments. Tell us more details, always interested in listening or reading someone else's success in God's wonderfully created outdoors.

Not atall, Man. That's what these forums are for.

Adding pictures has gotten easy on these new forums. When you're posting, just nelow the text box is a line that says "Add Photos". They'll be a numbered box and a little box next to it that says "Add File". Click on that and it will take you right to your own computer files where you can blouse through and choose a photo. Click on the photo you choose and then click "Open" and it will be labeled in the numbered box. Then, just to the right of that you'll see a box with "Insert" written in blue, click that....

Posting a photo here is easy. When posting look just below the text box and you'll see "Add Photos" . To the right of that is an empty box and to the right of that one is a box with "Add File" in it. Click on that. That will take you right to your own computer files. Plunder through your photos and choose what you want to post. Click on the chosen picture Then click "Open". The title of your picture will pop up in the empty box. To the right of it, you'll see a couple of new boxes. One is marked in blue letters, "Insert". Click that.....

And your photo code poops into your post. It's that simple.

Hey, Larry.

I've been a meat hunter all my life but it sure feels good to get one you can hang on the wall once in a while.

Now that my trap line is filling my freezer, I'm getting to the point where I can afford to be a little more picky when I'm in the deer stand. ?.

Yeah I do know what ya mean there about a wall hanger once in a while. A nothing better than dining on a nice deer steak while looking at the one who graciously provided it to you.

Sorry about the multiple post, y'all. But sure as the sun rises in the morning, just when I go to show somebody else how simple something is, THAT's when I have trouble.
