Annual lake trout trip

Forums
Not too many ice anglers here. About as many as on the old board.

Heading up to Canada on Wednesday. I will have some pictures to post when I get back.

Hope this area of the new board gets going.

Made it up to Sioux Narrow for the annual trip.

The trout weren't biting well but the walleye and perch cooperated as did the weather.

Crystal Harbour Resort is a great place for a base camp for the type of fishing we do.

The cook shanty was open for lunch every day:

Laying down on the job as usual:

First trout of the trip:

Local wildlife:

I even caught a few fish:

Why was he always laying down? His first real ice fishing adventure and this kid knows it all already:

A couple of our perch prior to being turned into dinner back at Crystal Harbour:

Again I caught a fish. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again:

The new kid gets lucky again:

My brother-in-law and the leader of our troop:

I might try ice fishing in one of those little shacks (like in the movie grumpy old men) At least they are out of the wind, and had some "anti-freeze" in their coffee....... ?

Nice fish and fun trip ? ..... only about 20 plus hours North west from me

If it is the cold I can assure you that I do not get cold until the temps drop well below 0°F.

There is no bad weather only bad clothing.

Base layers, polypropylene, proper head and face coverage, proper gloves, proper socks, LaCrosse Ice King boots.

Breathable clothing that lets the moisture out while keeping out the wind is a must.

The worst thing is the wind when it gets really cold. If you can stop the wind then you have a much better chance of staying warm.

I do not feel the need to be toast warm. As long as I am comfortable I am fine.

When you can face below 0°F weather and actually catch fish it can be an amazing adventure. You stay much warmer if the fish are biting. When they get lock jaw it gets tougher to stay out in the cold.
