Drop Shot rig for ice fishing.

This rig is probably the oldest drop shot type rig used.
The best part is you are never in doubt if you are on the bottom and can still feel the bite well.
Just pick it up a few inches off the bottomand jig it as you like.

I started using the d/s rig in warm water a few years ago for panfish and found it an excellent way to hold a bait in position which was better than vertical approaches blown around by a wind. Lures or live bait suspended a foot or so off bottom sometimes do better than those on bottom or a distance off bottom your not sure of.
